Waseem Mirza is an award-winning TV Presenter (BBC News) and trained actor / voice artist. As an actor, he made his debut in a Warner Bros. Television drama based on the popular superhero origin story - Pennyworth - commissioned by HBO Max. In Season 3 he reprised his former BBC News role. The international multi-award nominated drama series aired worldwide in 2022 across broadcast and SVOD networks and gained a BlueRay release in September 2023.
Summer 2023 saw him debut in a US commissioned British police procedural drama for AMC Networks. It's due on the BBC in the UK soon. Waseem also wrapped as a Guest Star in a hit international streaming drama The Diplomat which released in October 2024. He has wrapped and is to make his acting debut in a major science fiction franchise for the international market due for release in 2025. During Summer 2024, he was cast by Des Hamilton Casting, and wrapped filming as a journalist in a BFI-funded film due for it's festival run in 2025.
As a Television Presenter, he has expert knowledge on new technology and innovation, gained through making short news films (often as a self-shoot/edit Producer, Filmmaker and on-screen talent) for BBC News. Films include the world's first 3D-printed edible raspberry; the fully electric plane powered only by a battery, and the search for extra terrestrial intelligence from a back garden in Cambridge, England. He has worked on a range of programmes from the BBC's flagship consumer technology and lifestyle show: "Click" where he forecasted the rise of the "internet of things", on the BBC World News Channel. He now appears in broadcast media and is quoted by the tech press on the latest innovation and technology developments, including for bbc.com, The Guardian, NTD New York (US News Channel), NTD UK News, LifeWire Magazine, Electrek, gg2.net and many more.
In 22020,during the height of the pandemic, he played Dr Hamid in a new film about end of life care, distributed from May 2021 by The Open University, and the BBC - it's co-production partner. The film, directed by award-winning British director/cinematographer Haider Zafar, garnered over five wins on the international festival circuit. The Commercial branded film: "There Is Always Hope", in which Waseem was directed by Duncan Christie and Calum Macdiarmid, won Bronze at the Charity Film Awards 2022. The film and television commercials and social media cut-downs, were all produced by Great Guns TV for Network Rail and the charity Chasing The Stigma. The film continues to make an impact on raising awareness on mental health across the UK and was also shortlisted for the British Arrows 2022.
Waseem has a bbroadcast-quality home studio for voiceover projects, lending his voice for everything from TV continuity.. to video games for the UK arm of a [NDA PROTECTED] acclaimed global audio production studio, as well as a host of education and e-learning platforms.
