I'm an organised shooting Assistant Producer, working in specialist factual and Natural History, with strong research, technical, and location skills and experience. In the past 7 years I've set up and been on a range of long natural history shoots, spending 3 months tracking lions in the Okavango, filming underwater in Alaska, Florida, and Indonesia, and shooting CGI plates with a large crew in Svalbard, California, South Africa, and Scotland.
As a qualified HSE and rebreather diver, I've set up, supervised on, and taken part in dive shoots in remote locations - both open circuit and CCR. I'm also a qualified freediver, and familiar with a range of underwater camera housings and setups (Gates, Nauticam etc).
I've got a decent science background - After graduating with an environmental science degree, I worked in Mammal curation at the Natural History Museum in London and helped start a genetics led conservation project in Madagascar before turning to television. I've also spent several months working on an evolutionary field study in the jungles of Trinidad.
Since then I've worked on a wide range of shows for Apple, Nat Geo, the BBC, Netflix, Sky. I've been involved in all aspects of the initial research, from helping develop episode themes and content, to researching, developing, and pitching innovative and fascinating stories.
I am very experienced in the production aspect of shows, and have spent months at a time in remote locations, shooting, directing on location, and APing in a wide variety of terrains and editorial contexts, including long behavioural shoots, CGI filming, Underwater filming, character led natural history, and contributor led shoots.
Alongside working as AP or director on location, I've shot main or second camera, specialist camera crane setups, a lot of drone, BTS, underwater, etc. I've previously worked as an AC and I love learning or build new tech, and getting to use it in the field.
In terms of practical skills, I'm a confident driver on both sides of the road in a wide variety of vehicles, on and off road, I'm an HSE Professional SCUBA diver qualified on the Revo Rebreather and have set up a range of underwater marine shoots, I have a powerboat license, and am a qualified first aider.
Drone wise I've filmed plenty on the Inspire 3, and am now a dab hand at drone photogrammetry too, and I have UK, EU, and US drone licenses. I've also project led custom equipment builds, working with engineers and a budget of up to £10k to build bespoke kit for shows and series.
I love being part of a team but have also spent weeks shooting alone, so can think on my feet pretty well. All in all, I love finding great stories and working out how the hell to film them!
