About Me

Gunjan Menon is an Indian Producer-Director and co-founder of the Canada-based production house Beyond Premieres. Her documentaries focus on human-wildlife coexistence and conflict mitigation, featuring some of the earth's most endangered and lesser-known species. Over the last decade, she has been recognized with over 50 awards & nominations across 40 cities worldwide. Her work has been broadcast on Nat Geo Wild, Disney+, PBS, BBC Earth, Discovery, Animal Planet, Seeker, and Roundglass Sustain, among others. She did a Masters in Wildlife Filmmaking from the University of the West of England, Bristol in 2016, where she produced her critically acclaimed student short, ‘The Firefox Guardian’ which was shortlisted for a student BAFTA and later became a part of a three-part series, ‘Wildlives’. This film still travels to renowned film festivals and schools, starting a dialogue on ecofeminism and raising funds for red panda conservation worldwide. Two of her shorts have been awarded at the Jackson Wild’s World Wildlife Day x UN Film Showcase, and she was awarded the Jackson Wild Rising Star Award in 2020.

Gunjan is a TEDx speaker, vocally advocates intersectional climate justice and leads conservation storytelling workshops for emerging BIPOC filmmakers and scientists. She was featured in the children's book Rebel Girls Animal Allies in 2023. BBC Earth's Facebook Watch show, 'Close Encounters', featured her in their August 12th 2021 episode, and her conservation storytelling work has been covered in the Times of India, Sanctuary Asia, several podcasts, and magazines. She was the narrator for BBC’s impact campaign film pillars to support their landmark series, Frozen Planet II. She also authored a book for The Habitats Trust, highlighting grassroots conservationists and frontline warriors in India.

Gunjan is a National Geographic Explorer, NEWF Mentor and Fellow, Green Hub Mentor, Girls Who Click Partner Photographer and a Re:Generation Climate Leader supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. Read Less
