I worked with Gillian for 15 months in the BBC’s Religion & Ethics department in Salford. She was an established factual director but new to the self-shot ob doc, beginning with a project about chaplains in a children’s hospital. It required a big location commitment, plenty of emotional strength, particularly demanding people skills, decent camerawork and craft in the edit. She succeeded in all aspects, contributing to a powerful and moving series. She’s also delightful company and an impressively determined operator. Well worth employing.
