Self-shooting Producer/Director with a strong track record across observational documentary, factual entertainment and digital-first production for the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky. I work across the whole process, producing and developing stories, directing contributors and talent, shooting and editing, with a strong technical background that has always been a big part of how I work. My broadcast credits include The Repair Shop, The Repair Shop on the Road, Our Yorkshire Pub Rescue with Jon Richardson, The Pilgrimage, The Great Climate Fight, Coastal Adventures and a BBC One factual entertainment documentary with Guz Khan. Digital production has run alongside my broadcast work for many years, working as a PD, self-shooter, editor and animator on films for BBC World Service, BBC StoryWorks and BBC Bitesize. This includes a documentary following Hmong farmers in French Guiana, filming in Arctic Norway for Blue Horizons and the award-winning BBC Bitesize Black British Stories series. I also have extensive experience working with sensitive contributors, including working in refugee camps in Greece and making films for the British Red Cross, Oxfam and other charities and campaign organisations. I’m a strong shooter with my own Sony FX6 package, extensive lenses, lighting and sound kit. I’m BBC-vetted as a drone operator, hold an A2 CofC, edit in Premiere Pro and use After Effects for graphics and animation. My independent work includes the BAFTA-nominated The Invitation and award-winning documentary ABI. I’m particularly interested in observational documentary, current affairs and factual films with strong characters and room for a distinctive visual approach.
