Ziad Zafar is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and award-winning investigative journalist. A former staff journalist at the BBC and The Guardian in London, he has spent over a decade working across investigative reporting, political documentary and long-form narrative storytelling, with a particular focus on South Asian history and politics.He recently directed Benazir: The Assassination, a feature documentary produced by Oscar-winning producer James Gay-Rees. His wider documentary credits span National Geographic, Paramount+, Showtime, NBC, France Télévisions, ARTE and Al Jazeera. He has also produced acclaimed podcasts, including the BBC’s 10-part investigation The Assassination, winner of the AIB Award and British Podcast of the Year, and Audible’s The Hijack, winner of the 2022 ARIA Award for Best Factual Series. In 2023, he co-produced the Oscar-shortlisted documentary As Far As They Can Run.
