Prior to this he worked for Guardian Films, the Guardian newspaper's Emmy-award winning film and documentary unit where he spearheaded GF’s special investigations in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Ziad also has extensive experience working as a Director, Producer and AP on a number of short and long form projects for international broadcasters such as National Geographic International, Al-Jazeera, CNN, Current TV, Canal Plus, Arte, NBC, France Televisions, and Rai. In 2018 he produced the ground-breaking 10-episode BBC podcast series ‘The Assassination’, about the murder of Benazir Bhutto which remained number 1 on iTunes for several weeks. He has twice received Pakistan's most prestigious press guild award for his investigative journalism work (APNS 2007 & 2019). His films have also received the Associated Press award, PBS award and the Cezane prize among others. He is based between Karachi and London.
