Ziad Zafar is an award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker, formerly with the BBC in London. As staff journalist at the BBC he worked across various departments including the World Service, Current Affairs and BBC Studios. He has also worked as Producer for documentary strands like 'Our World' (BBC ONE) and 'Storyville' (BBC FOUR). Prior to this he worked for Guardian Films, the Guardian newspaper's Emmy-award winning film and documentary unit where he spearheaded GF’s special investigations in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Ziad also has extensive experience working as a Director, Producer and AP on a number of short and long form projects for international broadcasters such as National Geographic International, Al-Jazeera, CNN, Current TV, Canal Plus, Arte, NBC, France Televisions, and Rai. In 2018 he produced the ground-breaking 10-episode BBC podcast series ‘The Assassination’, about the murder of Benazir Bhutto which remained number 1 on iTunes for several weeks. He has twice received Pakistan's most prestigious press guild award for his investigative journalism work (APNS 2007 & 2019).
