I am a Head of Production / Production Executive with over 25 years of experience in the industry. I recently relocated to Bristol and am currently a Production Executive at Wild Space, a Netflix Production Company specializing in Natural History. Previous to this I spent ten months as a Production Executive at Icon Films overseeing their adventure series ‘Primal Survivor’. Prior to my move to Bristol I was Head of Production at Quicksilver Media, an independent production company specializing in documentaries and current affairs. On my watch our films won five Emmys, four BAFTAs, four Royal Television Society Awards, the Robert F Kennedy Journalism Award for International Television, two Grierson documentary awards, and many other major international TV awards. One film in particular that I Line Produced – ‘Syria Across the Lines’ for PBS and Channel 4 – won ten major awards including an Emmy and a Bafta.I have experience of multiple formats, including a seven-part crime doc series for Netflix on which I worked as the Supervising Producer; creating the budget, negotiating the contract with Netflix and overseeing all security aspects of the high-risk shoot in Brazil.I was at Quicksilver Media for 14 years, during which I was single-handedly responsible for creating Covid-19 protocols and remote filming workflows for shoots, overseeing all finances, researching and negotiating new revenue streams, securing co-production and distribution deals, overseeing staff mental health, liaising with broadcasters, ensuring we are Health and Safety and HR compliant, thinking of creative ways to make our productions more sustainable and diverse, and solving various technical and logistical issues and challenges.I worked in commercials for seven years before moving across to documentaries and current affairs where I gained over 90 credits as a Production Manager. Before moving across to Head of Production in 2011, I managed over 70 films for Quicksilver Media. I have extensive experience of organising international filming - including hostile environment shoots in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, Pakistan and Ivory Coast as well as many high-risk undercover shoots in countries such as Myanmar, China and Zimbabwe.I have been on the advisory panel for a new ‘T-Level’ Media industry qualification and have been a member of the Digital Production Partnership since its inception, where I am regularly asked to join panels on security, technology and production. I also gave a talk on security and technology uses in hostile environments. I have been a guest lecturer and was recently a judge for the RTS West of England awards and the Rory Peck awards. Read Less
