My website has an availability calendar so you can easily see if I'm available and send a request to pencil or book me. This calendar is kept up to date in real time. Also on the website is my FULL work history. I’m a freelance location sound recordist with over twenty years experience working in television and corporate environments: observational documentaries, current affairs, corporate, branded content and commercial productions. Recent credits include: 'Charlotte Church's Dream Build' Koska for Discovery, 'Grand Designs' Boundless Productions for Channel 4, and 'Songs of Praise' Avanti Media for BBC One, amongst many others. I have bases in Wales and West Midlands and I'm happy to travel elsewhere. My bases are: Birmingham, Cardiff and Cardigan. Given the choice, I’m particularly interested in working on projects that lean towards any of these end results: educational, ethical, artistic, ‘good-cause’, social change. And I’m particularly interested in working with any of these general areas of subject matter: innovation, sustainability, environment, psychology, philosophy, linguistics, the arts, social history, the natural world, politics. I’m a full member of IPS (Institute of Professional Sound). I have an enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records check) and I have a current public liability insurance policy. I hold a valid passport, a full UK driving license, I have a basic level of conversational Welsh and as any sound recordist should, I have a PMSE license to use radio mic equipment on Ch38 in the UK. My main kit comprises a Sound Devices 833 eight channel mixer/dual-media recorder. I carry several different microphones for dialogue recording depending on the environment/circumstances and also two handheld, presenter ‘stick mics’. I have seven radio mic kits and Timecode Systems timecode solutions to keep my mixer and multiple cameras in frame-accurate sync all day. I carry a spare mixer in case the unimaginable should happen in the middle of nowhere. Unless otherwise requested, I back up all my recordings, as a matter of course.
