Olly would be an asset to any production. He is thoughtful in his approach to outreach, and emotionally invested in the wellbeing of contributors and staying true to their story. He is editorially minded, and builds great relationships with contributors, which brings out the best of them in interviews. He goes above and beyond, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
Olly is committed, tenacious and talented. We had the pleasure of having Olly join the team on our series, When Missing Turns to Murder. He very capably and single-handedly found 3 of the stories that he went on to cast, story-produce and attend the shoot for those three episodes. He did this with a real passion and flare. He was both sympathetic, kind and professional with the family which reflected in their participation and willingness to contribute. He was just at ease with managing the professionals who took part in these episodes that ranged from the CPS, police to experts in the crime field. He quickly built solid relationships with press officers and can adapt quickly on location as demands and schedules change. He has an excellent instinct for a good story and is an absolute delight to work with. I very much hope to work with Olly again, a very gifted, intelligent and skilful creative.
I worked with Olly on the most recent series of 'Secrets of the Museum' for BBC2. Olly was a passionate and hardworking member of a very small and busy filming team based at the V&A in London, Stoke on Trent and Dundee. As the series AP, Olly displayed a commitment to the success of the series and enjoyed pulling together to capture strong stories in an engaging way. Olly was well-liked by both the museum's PR teams and external contributors. He was a supportive team member, using his prior knowledge from working as a co-ordinator on the original series to enhance the editorial of series 3. He was good at the research stage and diligent with both scriptwriting and planning prior to shoots and recording filming notes for the edit after each shoot. Olly has a good eye and took impressive press stills on shoots. He is an organised and diligent AP with a commitment to furthering his knowledge and his career.
Olly worked for me on a hospital series where he was responsible for both consent and patient liaison. He did a great job, consenting often complex cases with a mix of charm and persistence. He is the ultimate 'people person' - dealing with everyone with a huge amount of empathy, tact and kindness. I never once questioned his capability or his judgement and when he felt he needed advice on whether he was making the right decision, he was quick to refer up.
He is enormously easy to work with, is great on the phone (and not afraid to use it) and takes great notes whilst on the job. On an access doc, he is a real asset, keeping everyone on side and he diffuses tricky situations with ease.
Throughly recommend.
Olly is a key member of the team and the person you want to be part of a production from the beginning to the very end. He made the move from production to editorial on 999 What’s Your Emergency and I’m so pleased he did! He is a natural with people and in dealing with complex compliance problems. Olly is hardworking, organised, creative and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire him again, and again, and again!
Olly is an absolute delight to work with. After a distressing experience with another AP Olly stepped in and was a world apart from the previous chap.
