Julia Lemos Lima is a London-based documentary filmmaker, founder of Spread The Word Films, a production company specialising in non-fictional films about women’s issues. Her work focuses on how women deal with sexism and gender inequality. Her films have been screened at Mzansi Women's Film Festival 2017 in South Africa, Copenhagen Underground Film Festival 2017, Girls Don’t Cry 2018, WomenCinemakers Biennale 2018 and London Feminist Film Festival 2018. In 2018, Julia took part in the Global Short Docs Forum, an international initiative connecting filmmakers of documentary shorts with digital platforms such as The Guardian Docs, BBC Stories, AJ+ amongst other important exhibitioners. Julia has worked for TV Globo, the largest TV network in Latin America, and has been commissioned by TV channels like VH1 and UK organisations like One World Media. She has an extensive track record in producing audiovisual online branded content, having worked with brands such as LinkedIn, GSK and Unilever. Currently, she divides her time between her authorial projects, her placement as a mentee of the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths University and her work as an assistant producer for Hamlett Films, where she develops educational films for the Open University. Some of her latest productions have been awarded the Learning on Screen Award and nominated as a finalist for Best Research Film of the Year in the AHRC Research in Film Awards. Read Less
