Roberto Sommella and I have worked together on three occasions, in the summer of 2014,15 and this year again (2016) for periods of about two weeks each. This year he worked as an editor (mainly) and production assistant (secondly) on the same event as the previous years. I was producing a series of 13 videos for a classical music festival in Italy.
I can say that Roberto is a highly motivated individual who constantly does the best he can and goes the extra mile to achieve good results. Furthermore, he has an incredible amount of energy and with him we were able to achieve the impossible, mainly, executing a 3 to 4 man project with only the two of us.
As production assistant, Roberto is competent in all the different tasks he helps me with. Setting up lights, camera, sound, and also shooting live concerts while being careful not to disturb the audience. Roberto also has good organizational skills which would make him a good production coordinator or production manager on similar-type projects should the chance arise.
As an editor, this is where Roberto's best skills come to life. Not only does he master most of the technical aspects of editing software and video formats, more importantly, he has the artistic sense of structure, rhythm, etc., needed by a good editor to shape a video and turn a collection of footage into a compelling story. Further, he's able to do that fast, which allowed him this year to edit on a daily basis and complete videos every day. He is currently developing more skills with video color grading and sound mixing tools which will make him soon a "full" post-production professional.
I look forward to working with him soon and recommend anyone to work with him at the first opportunity.
