It took a while to save adequate funds, sufficient to cover postgraduate university fees. This subsequently postponed my decision of embarking on the master's degree journey. After three years of "hard labour" in the retail industry, I finally submersed myself in the world of documentary film. Something that has always been my passion. I enrolled in a postgraduate Master’s Course in Ethnographic and Documentary Film, at University College London.
This allowed me to finally make my filmmaking dreams come true.Since October 2015 I have completed productions (produced/filmed/edited) of 5 short documentaries, covering from a character driven piece investigating pole dancing to an observational study of a respite home for disabled children. From extensive research and production scheduling to proposal writing, all to tight deadlines, has been an exciting journey. Furthermore, being a self-shooter has brought about an understanding for both material coverage, an eye for detail and capturing that detail at its optimum capability. Being fully engrossed in my very own filmmaking has certainly honed my production management capabilities and continues to shape me as a filmmaker.I have always had a burning interest in people’s stories. Being able to follow them with my camera feels like discovering a new dimension of human perception.Being a keen documentary film enthusiast, I actively participated in the Open City Documentary Festival, held annually in London. As a member of the Film Pre-Selection Panel I had first hand involvement in selecting/reviewing emerging documentaries. This allowed me to discover new trends in the nonfiction film industry. In addition, I assisted the festival coordinator in smooth running of the annual Youth Day. My role entailed group management, coordinating/running of the filming workshops, handling filming equipment. Submersing myself in the ever vibrant, festival environment has brought about event and people management capabilities. Please see my CV attached for my full skill-set, which includes camera operating (currently working with SONY NX3), sound recording (booming, Zoom H5), editing (Adobe Premiere Pro), licensing, diary/production schedule management and more.I am a self-motivated, student filmmaker; looking to enhance my professional industry exposure. I have a particular interest in working on factual film productions; with a diverse skillset and zeal, I am ready to take on new roles such as: Videographer, Production Assistant, Production Runner and Researcher.I am available immediately, please feel free contact me via email or telephone number.Kasia Niechwiedowicz
