Read MoreNathan is a multi-skilled Sound Recordist with a proven track record over two decades, delivering on complex, long-form broadcast and feature documentaries. Formally trained in sound recording and refined across years of location work in challenging environments worldwide, his practice is further informed by experience in production, camera and editorial departments - a combination that deepens his understanding of the entire filmmaking process and strengthens his collaborative approach.
His technical range spans large-scale multi-camera productions to intimate verité documentaries, where his observational instincts and discreet presence are most at home. His efficient working practice ensures audio is captured with minimal fuss. His editorial judgement spots problems before they become problems. Naturally inquisitive, well-travelled, and exceptional with talent and contributors, he's learned that charm and a well-stocked spares kit solve roughly equal numbers of production problems.
What distinguishes Nathan is not merely technical command, but intuition: knowing the difference between cinematic ambition and getting the shot, when to prioritise polish and when to prioritise speed, never letting perfectionism obstruct the moment. His decisions serve the story with the edit perpetually in mind.
Notable projects as Sound Recordist include: a year behind-the-scenes with King Charles III throughout his Coronation; three consecutive years embedded with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry and dozens of world leaders throughout COP negotiations for One Point Five, a feature documentary by the Oscar-winning filmmakers behind American Factory and Navalny; six months with US Navy fighter pilots earning their wings; following Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter exploring the world of Samuel Beckett; and supporting Stephen Colbert's London shoots. Nathan has also Co-Directed a BBC Imagine profile of artist Marc Quinn and Executive Produced the BFI/BBC/Film London Microwave Scheme feature Homebound.
