About Me
In Spring and Summer 2023 Andrew series produced Trauma Room One for us at Renegade Stories, an 8 part series for Channel 5 following neurosurgeons at the specialist NHS Walton Centre in Liverpool. The series was excellent, his leadership of the team highly accomplished, his ability to maintain strong relationships with individual surgeons, with the public relations team and senior management of the hospital outstanding. With a modest budget and a relatively fast schedule the series was challenging. But Trauma Room One was a trauma free and happy production as a result of Andrew’s calm and incisive leadership.
Andrew is a talented series producer and one of his strengths is creating new series. He is brilliant in the edit and is a strong script writer. Andrew has also successfully produced high volume series to tight deadlines while maintaining a high quality throughout all episodes. The portfolio of series he has produced have involved duty of care and complex compliance issues so he is also has lots of experience in this crucial aspect of programme making. Andrew is always ready to roll his sleeves and get stuck in whether its going on location or being in the edit which makes him a great SP.
Andrew did an excellent job series producing a very successful Daytime series "Home Front Heroes", stripped across Remembrance Week. despite various challenges along the way - including a key contributor pulling out at the last minute, requiring a whole new ep to be worked up from scratch, Andrew very calmly and capably ran the team, set the style for the series with two episodes he made himself, and pulled together a very watchable and inspirational series that pulled in shares of over 29%. He has subsequently run the highly pressured online for Watchdog Live, again staying calm and unflappable despite many last minute changes. I very much look forward to working with him again.
As Creative Director at Shiver I worked with Andrew in his time here as Executive Producer for a number of years.
During that period he was responsible for the editorial and financial management of a range of productions - from documentaries like Return to the Falklands and Corrie Goes to Kenya to shiny floor studio shows such as Spandau Ballet: True Gold and Michael Flatley: A Night to Remember, plus entertainment specials like You Saw Them Here First and The Nation’s Favourite Dance Moment.
He consistently delivered fresh, original, high quality, high profile productions and ensured that programmes were delivered on time, to budget and with the highest level of production values.
Andrew provided strong editorial leadership, supporting and guiding teams to ensure that each programme maintained its integrity - driving the content, both in terms of style and structure, and encouraging innovation but working within editorial guidelines.
Andrew was always approachable and worked closely with his teams in the identification and selection of stories for programmes in a way that demonstrated strong editorial judgement, compliance knowledge and a sensitivity to any participants involved.
He developed positive relationships with contacts across the industry and worked closely with key presenters and participants, ensuring that they were properly briefed and involving them in the editorial process.
