After researching 9 Cutting Edge films Philip was hired as an AP at Darlow Smithson making the first Black Box series. This led to Philip locating the Iowa farmer who found a DC10 rotor blade in his field, a vital part of the Sioux City DC 10 crash investigation.Philip won his first break at directing for Channel Four making a series of short films titled Betrayal. Philip then developed, won a commission and directed Swindon Superbabes for 5, his first long form documentary, it led to Philip being hired to direct The Real Monty for 5.
After making To Russia for Love for BBC2’s Modern Times strand, Philip Series Directed Around the World in 80 Raves for Channel 4, episode 7 of Temptation Island series 2 for Sky 1, and episode 2 of the first Holiday Showdown series for ITV1.
Philip then developed, produced and directed One Night in Powder a comedy pilot featuring Jason Attar, which won the Guardian’s i-movie short film award, one of the judges was Peter Bradshaw The Guardian’s movie critic.
One Night in Powder led Philip and Jason to make a series of comedy shorts for Channel Four’s Transmission music show based on the Kevin Powder character.When the comedy partnership ended Philip went back to factual TV and developed, and Series Produced and Directed Rock n Roll Hotel, which was commissioned by Jay Hunt for BBC1.
Jay found the nightlife entrepreneur Mark Fuller, who was frantically refurbishing the Sanctum Hotel in Soho in the midst of the financial crash, compelling. After Rock n Roll Hotel Philip developed a business format with former Dragon Simon Woodroffe, which sadly wasn’t commissioned, he was then hired to produce and direct two episodes of Come Dine with Me and then as a location Producer-Director on Geordie Shore.
Philip then enrolled on the MA Dramatic Writing course at Central St Martin’s and since 2020 has developed and written 4 spec movie scripts and a crime thriller pilot and is seeking agent representation.
Philip has inccreased his creative skills with his writing craft and is keen to be considered for suitable creative roles in TV.
