Silvia Sacco is a bilingual (Italian and English) BAFTA-nominated producer and development producer working across television, independent feature docs and podcasts. Her most recent completed documentary film, The Man Who Definitely Didn’t Steal Hollywood, won Best Documentary at the 2025 Venice TV Awards. “… is La La Land at its most jaw-dropping.” Sunday’s Observer.Based in London, Silvia holds a master's in Philosophy-Ethics and was an academic researcher before beginning her television career at BBC Arts. Amongst others, she directed and produced Inside the Vatican (BBC Two/PBS), a landmark observational series praised for its unique access and depth.Silvia is currently developing and producing an archive-based documentary exploring the lives of two divas during Hollywood’s golden era, following World War II, and serving as Executive Producer on a premium true-crime/horror series (3×60) for HBO Max, which she developed and successfully pitched to the platform. Silvia is an expert storyteller with an instinct for strong material. She is adept at securing access, developing ideas, winning commissions and seeing her projects through to completion. Silvia originated the groundbreaking BBC Two hit series Italy Unpacked, a cultural travelogue exploring the connections between fine art and food, which ran for five successful seasons and sold worldwide. Featuring two expert presenters, it was the first format of its kind. “This series succeeds where many travelogues fail. Just when we thought there was no life left in the TV travelogue, along comes one that is so good it could revive the whole genre.” The Guardian. She developed and series-produced the BBC’s Bafta nominated Art of… documentary series strand. Silvia also works as an international archive producer with filmmakers, including Julien Temple. Now, Silvia enjoys collaborating with directors, combining strong journalism, clear storytelling and exceptional access to archives, institutions and contributors to elevate premium documentary films.As a side project, she is self-shooting short films about young football players growing up in the shadow of Grenfell Tower. She looks forward to continuing to use media as a tool to collaborate with organisations that support teenagers from underprivileged backgrounds, helping them navigate the important transition through adolescence.
