Excellent track record creating films for all four major BBC channels, along with Discovery and Channel 5. Highly experienced across multiple-genres, including Adventure Travel, Science, History, Current Affairs, Reality and Factual Entertainment. Filmed all around the world in extremely hazardous locations. Confident, innovative and self-reliant.Over the course of my career I've won 7 awards from the Royal Television Society. My Science credits include blue-chip productions such as 'Cloud Lab', in which we surveyed Earth's lower atmosphere from a giant airship, flying coast to coast across America. We even weighed the odd cloud along the way. I've also made films for BBC Horizon, along with several big-hitters in the 'Truth About ...' series. In History I developed, scripted, directed and edit-produced episodes of the BBC hit-series 'The History of Ancient Britain.' Soon after I made from scratch a 90 minute, 1 million pounds, blockbuster for BBC1, starring Dan Snow, called 'Rome's Lost Empire'. This film contained state-of-the-art CGI.I'm a trained journalist who has carried out a large number of undercover investigations. These include a Panorama Special on football hooligans, with extensive secret filming. I am used to dealing with complex legal, editorial and safety issues.I've also made Constructed Reality films from all around the world, including extremely remote locations in the Siberian Arctic, Amazon rainforest, and the South Pacific. I am experienced in handling logistically complex shoots - including aerial, underwater, and high-altitude filming. I'm able to drive emerging storylines - and get the best out of a wide range of contributors - in some of the most challenging locations on Earth.i have directed a large number of household-name presenters including Dan Snow, Anthea Turner, Prof Green, Fiona Phillips, Neil Oliver, Matt Allwright, Marcus Wareing and Fergal Keane. I also have a lot of experience developing emerging talent. I've excellent team building skills - and can gain trust and access in difficult and sensitive circumstances. I am happy soothing frayed egos on set and dealing with any problem that might occur.Since becoming freelance I have continued working for the BBC, but also Channel 5.I was taken on as Series Director for a brand new primetime Channel 5 show called 'In Solitary: the Anti-Social Experiment.' This 90 minute character-driven documentary followed a genuine social experiment in which a small number of volunteers were stripped of their technology and locked in solitary confinement to measure the effects on their minds and bodies. As Series Director it was my responsibility to develop and shape a specific style and aesthetic. I also structured the film and took it through the edit. It won an RTS award and rated number one on Twitter beating Game of Thrones season finale. On the strength of this award-winning show Channel 5 re-commissioned a series of 'as live' shows involving celebrities. I was brought back as Series Director and led a multi-camera shoot including fixed rig, FS7, C300, Canon 5D, Mobi and dronesI'm a documentary maker who gets a genuine thrill from delivering consistently high audience figures, share, and AI's.I have a reputation for delivering original, innovative programmes with visual flair and editorial rigour. I create quality products that are marketable and profitable as quickly and inexpensively as possible.
