Helena is exceptional at what she does – intellectually rigorous, with very sound editorial judgement, a mastery of programme structure, brilliant writing-skills, all coupled with creativity and flair. She’s great at getting the best from the full gamut of contributors and presenters. Her range straddles ITV fact ent to the knottiest science, arts and history specialist factual programming. She’s very experienced and works brilliantly with teams large and tiny. She is collegiate, referring up when necessary and delegating well. She can SP, Exec and Develop as well as PD. And she’s the best edit producer I know.

Helena is the absolute gold standard of Factual TV talent. Super-bright, she has a peerless attention to detail, carries out meticulous research and nails down stories with clarity and vision, always delivering memorable shows. She would be a brilliant addition to any team, is a great collaborator and I highly recommend her skills as a PD or SP.

Suzy Klein, Head of BBC Arts and Classical Music

Helena is everything we could have hoped for, and more. Creative and thorough, she has great attention for detail and delivered two beautiful and fascinating programmes. Her vast experience made her a real asset to the team, not to mention her being a joy to work with.

Lauren Bennie

I've known Helena since she became a junior researcher on the BBC's weekly history magazine programme, Leviathan, in 1997. At the time she was working during her summer vacations while pursing a History degree at Oxford,

Helena rapidly became one of the programmes key researchers, mature, reliable and thorough. I subsequently worked with her on several other history projects, including a Channel Four series about pre-Raj history of India ( An Indian Affair, 2001, Balderdash and Piffle, 2005, and London Calling, Inside the BBC World Service, 2008) She was always wonderfully creative, helpful, mature, a great problem solver, who would work tirelessly until the job was done. Exactly the sort of person you want on a long and gruelling overseas shoot.

Helena then went on to directing, working on a series with former ambassador Christopher Meyer, and producing, on Joanna Lumley's phenomenally successful In Search of the Northern Lights - which arose from Helena's idea.

Helena has a youthtful manner, energy and enthusiasm, and a kindness and warmth, which make her a great team member. But his doesn't detract from her fierce and steely attention to detail, her commitment and responsibility to a project and her unsurpassable work ethic. Behind her modesty, Helena, is a determined, very capable and extremely intelligent and sensitive director and producer. She is versatile, able to fit in to many roles, but also a natural leader.

Helena would be a great asset to any production. She's one of the cleverest as well as one of the kindest people you are ever likely to meet.
