I have recently completed a number of feature length documentaries for Channel 5 - DUDLEY MOORE: MADE IN DAGENHAM; PETER SELLERS: GENIUS AT WORK; TOMMY COOPER...UNSEEN; ERIC SYKES: A LIFE OF SILENT LAUGHTER; DIANA RIGG: ULTIMATE AVENGER; NORMAN WISDOM: NOBODY'S FOOL; DOLLY PARTON: QUEEN OF COUNTRY; JOANNA LUMLEY: IN MY OWN WORDS; THE RISE AND FALL OF HUGH HEFNER'S PLAYBOY; MEL GIBSON: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE DANGEROUS; ANGELINA JOLIE: WILD AT HEART; MICHAEL CAINE: THE MAN AND THE MOVIES; JOHNNY DEPP: HOLLYWOOD'S DARK STAR; SEAN CONNERY: BOND AND BEYOND; RICHARD AND JUDY: IN OUR OWN WORDS and BILLY CONNOLLY: IN HIS OWN WORDS.
My other recent work also includes the acclaimed single documentary BOB MONKHOUSE: MASTER OF LAUGHTER (December 2020, Channel 5), the well received KEN DODD: HOW TICKLED WE WERE (Boxing Day 2018, BBC Two), the three part series MORECAMBE AND WISE IN AMERICA for UKTV Gold, DAME KIRI TE KANAWA ON BERNSTEIN for Sky Arts, THE TWO RONNIES; THE UNSEEN SKETCHES (Christmas Day 2019, Channel 5) and the feature length documentary LARRY GRAYSON: SHUT THAT DOOR! for ITV.
Other documentary work includes DARA O'BRIAIN MEETS STEPHEN HAWKING for BBC One, and the series BOB MONKHOUSE: THE MILLION JOKE MAN for UKTV. From 2009 to 2015 I ran my own independent production company, Rain Media Entertainment, with a partner. We produced documentaries, factual entertainment and entertainment for BBC One, ITV, Sky, UKTV and Channel 4. I executive produced (and occasionally directed) all our output. Highlights from this period include DAVID WALLIAMS: SNAPSHOT IN TIME for ITV; BRUCE FORSYTH ON SAMMY DAVIS JR for ITV; KATIE PRICE: STANDING UP FOR HARVEY for Sky Living; LES DAWSON - AN AUDIENCE WITH THAT NEVER WAS for ITV and RESTAURANT IN OUR LIVING ROOM for Living.
From 2004 to 2009 I was
Controller of Entertainment at ITV Studios, leading a department producing almost 500 hours a year of entertainment television - everything from ANT AND DEC'S SATURDAY NIGHT TAKEAWAY to PARKINSON, THE BRIT AWARDS, AN AUDIENCE WITH..., IT'LL BE ALRIGHT ON THE NIGHT, UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE, YOU'VE BEEN FRAMED! and NELSON MANDELA'S 90th BIRTHDAY PARTY. We produced shows for ITV, the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky, Bravo, Discovery, Living, NBC and FOX. I executive produced all the department's output, including the number one rated HIT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME for NBC in the US.
From 1999 to 2004 I was
Controller of Entertainment at Carlton Productions, where I grew the Department significantly, creating the daytime talkshows THE PAUL O'GRADY SHOW and TODAY WITH DES AND MEL, executive producing the biographical series STAR LIVES, live entertainment variety show LILY LIVE!, quiz shows THE VAULT, CATCHPHRASE and FAMILY FORTUNES and the award winning Tina Turner special HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINA!. I executive produced the department's first production for US television, TV'S NAUGHTIEST BLUNDERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, for the FOX network.
Prior to 1999 I executive produced or produced at LWT Entertainment, BBC Television Entertainment, and Granada Television. I became a Producer in 1992, and a Researcher in 1989.
In addition to my television production work, I have executive produced THE ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY PROGRAMME AWARDS every year since 2016.
