Strong track-record in delivering commission-winning development work and dealing with sensitive access. Particular strengths in high-end specialist factual (particularly history), gaining access to extremely sensitive stories, managing teams on the ground and obs doc location producing.
I am an experienced and highly motivated producer with various broadcast credits from observational documentary to high-end specialist factual. I have a journalistic background, strong editorial judgement and a passion and flair for creative storytelling.
I have built a strong track record in development and production; working on productions at the cutting edge of graphic design such as “World War II from Space”, winning multi-million dollar commissions from US broadcasters, scripting and edit producing historical documentaries and cutting sizzles to pitch high-concept ideas. I have a wealth of experience securing access to highly sensitive stories, national institutions and high-profile interviewees, including those from within the highest echelons of the US military.
I am highly adept at working across both long and short form programming. I spent months gaining access to extremely sensitive stories in Southampton General Hospital’s Major Trauma Unit for “Trauma: Level 1” but I am equally comfortable producing quick turnaround content for taster tapes or online. I edit produced a short film "Girls With Books - A New Global power" for “A World at School”, the charity spearheaded by Sarah Brown and former UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown. The online short, shot in Pakistan and the UK, was used by the United Nations to promote their Millennium Development Goal to ensure all children worldwide get access to education.
I am also a highly skilled long-form edit producer with an excellent understanding of narrative and visual storytelling. As a producer of historical documentary, I have seen projects through from pre-production to delivery, including overseeing the edit and all elements of post-production.
I have experience of scripting, producing/directing interviews and actuality on location, sourcing and clearing archive footage and working within a budget to ensure the highest production values across a wide variety of content. I am used to liaising with and working to briefs from executive producers, broadcasters and commercial clients in order to make sure that the content meets their requirements.
I am also used to working in small teams that get big results. Accustomed to working on various projects simultaneously, I have thrived in the high pressure, fast-paced atmosphere of the news room as well as in tough, emotionally fraught environments for documentary.
I am extremely hard-working, resourceful, empathetic and creative as well as being able to make sound editorial decisions under pressure.
