ABOUT ME- I am a positive, creative, versatile, calm, passionate and hard working Edit Producer, Senior Producer and PD with 20 years experience across a variety of genres in factual entertainment including crime, food, current affairs, agriculture, horticulture, social and natural history, observational and antiques. I've managed teams from PD'S to runners and produced, directed and compiled 70 and 60 minutes episodes as well as hundreds of short form films. I love developing story threads and thinking outside the box as to how to tell a story and I pride myself on my creative flare and speed at writing both scripts and voice over. I absolutely love my job and my enthusiasm and passion for making creative, informative, engaging telly, inspires and enthuses all of my teams to achieve the best programmes we can whilst having fun. I thrive in a fast paced, multi-task environment, have sound editorial judgment and extensive experience of scripting in the edit and for location, as well as years of experience managing and directing on screen talent and contributors.
CHANNELS - I have worked across prime time and daytime for BBC1, BBC2 , BBC3, CHANNEL 4 and CHANNEL 5.
EDIT PRODUCER : I am fast at creating, writing and developing story threads, adding tension, humour, drama, emotion with my writing and through clever and fun music choices. I have cut multi-camera footage for 60, 45, 30 minutes and short form films cutting observational story threads, contributors backstories, wildlife, cooking sequences, archive and formatted sequences. I have also compiled and produced 70 and 60 min programmes combining archive and original footage. I love finding the story threads, layering, building contributors stories and personalities and adding humour in my voice over. I use avid to sync pull but am also happy transcribing and compiling a paper edit. I have worked across multi edits (5 at once), and have been solely across 1 EP at a time hitting deadlines throughout.
SENIOR PRODUCER: I managed multiple teams across the country including PD's, researchers, camera assistants and PMA's whilst producing BBC1's weekly factual entertainment/ current affairs series Countryfile. The role included producing multiple episodes, stories and edits, writing episode running orders and episode scripts, signing off short form film scripts , signing off films in the edit, compiling episodes and managing and running offline and online edits including recording voice overs. I signed off risk assessments and held regular meetings with our senior health and safety advisor. But my main passion was developing story ideas for each episode and thinking creatively on how to tell and shoot a variety of subject matters whilst sticking to a very tight budget. I also completed compliance forms and signed off final viewings. I produced Countryfile's 3 x 70 minute Plant Britain specials collaborating with The Open University, Natural History Museum, RHS, Blue Peter, Radio 2 and BBC Education. I initiated the idea behind the successful Plant Britain map - www.plantbritain.co.uk where we hit our planting target of planting 750,000 trees. I also produced the new title sequences, created new graphics and developed the programmes format, including the addition of celebrity call to arms. I did all this whilst producing four other Countryfile episodes as well as managing the annual Countryfile photographic competition and calendar, proving I am a great multi-tasker, organiser and line manager. The Countryfile Calendar for 2022 and 2023 surpassed all sales records raising a staggering £2.8 million each year for BBC Children in Need. Producing the calendar also required me to complete ITACU forms, write Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice and hold regular meetings with Editorial Policy and Legal.
DIRECTOR - I have 15 years experience directing on location. I pride myself on using my humour and personality, and relaxed manor with presenters and contributors to always get the best out of them and get the job done!! I'm creative and always look for different ways to shoot and tell the stories. While directing, I am cutting the sequence/ story in my head, meaning I do not overshoot, and presenters do not get over tired re-shooting everything. I turnaround scripts quickly, compile risk assessments and write my own filming schedules which I pride myself in sticking too. Talent: I have directed high profile talent including Gregg Wallace, Chris Bavin, Matt Baker, John Craven, Nadiya Hussain, Ellie Harrison, Adam Henson, Tom Heap, James Martin, Nigel Slater, Tim Wonnacott, Paul Martin, Steve Brown and many other on screen experts. I have built trust quickly with all of them with a relaxed, fun, yet confident personality on location which means top performances from all and happy presenters.
