Read MoreI have recently completed a two-and-a-half-year contract as Talent Manager at Wild Space Productions, a Netflix company, where I led on recruitment and talent development across a busy factual slate.
At Wild Space I managed the full recruitment cycle, from writing job adverts to conducting interviews, ensuring every stage reflected best practices in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. As a neurodivergent person I bring both personal insight and professional commitment to creating accessible and inclusive hiring experiences.
I also managed key databases such as Talent Manager and proactively identified networking opportunities through my own local outreach. I had a strong working relationship with ScreenSkills, overseeing all applications for initiatives such as MAM and Leaders of Tomorrow. I supported our inhouse freelancers through CV and cover letter guidance and ran events including networking workshops and career development sessions.
Relationship-building was at the heart of my work—whether representing Wild Space at talent forums and industry events, collaborating with new contacts I engaged through outreach, or conducting exit interviews to provide actionable feedback for the management team. These efforts were all driven by a commitment to good communication and therefore building a connected, inclusive, and responsive talent network.
Before my move into talent management I worked for over 15 years as a TV Producer in Factual Entertainment for 15 years. My credits include Man vs Wild with Bear Grylls, River Monsters with Jeremy Wade and Extraordinary Families with Jane Treays. I have extensive experience at setting up and overseeing foreign filming shoots on location both editorially and logistically. I'm also very comfortable in the Edit, writing scripts and putting stories together. I have also worked in Development at Tigress Productions, Renegade Pictures and Icon Films, mainly developing marine wildlife programmes and presenter led adventure series.
I am also a professional underwater photographer, as I have often had to generate my own work I spend a lot of time developing and researching my own projects and stories. As a result of this I have many useful contacts around the world. Here is a link to my website www.katewestaway.com
