About Me

I am an experienced, award winning Series Producer / Director, and have worked across a variety of genres from Ob doc and documentary to medical, travel, blue light, cookery/food, natural history, current affairs and history. Karen is one of the best PD's I have ever worked with. She's smart, intelligent, has brilliant attention to detail and is incredibly hard working. She's also a creative and imaginative story teller. Her passion, enthusiasm and sense of humour means she is a pleasure to work with and I look forward to the day when I am on the same project as her again.

Karen is quite simply a brilliant edit producer. She worked with us on a new, fast turnaround series and was instrumental in helping to shape the series. Her experience means that she very quickly grasps what’s needed and gets on with it, time after time delivering cuts that the commissioner absolutely loved; while remaining enthusiastic and passionate about doing the best job possible throughout. She would absolutely be one of my go-to people.

Karen Walsh is always one of the first calls I make when I get a new series commissioned and I have been lucky enough to work with her on multiple occasions. She is an exceptional talent. Her passion for making great television is combined with exceptional editorial judgement. She knows exactly what is needed to tell a story with flare and clarity and peruses that goal with a work ethic and dedication that is second to none. She’s also very bright, very organised and fun to work with. I’m a big fan.

`Karen Plumb

I worked with Karen on the BBC 2 series 'An hour to save your life'. This observational series followed the work of HEMS paramedics, A and E doctors and surgeons as they battled to save people's lives.

As Senior P/D on location Karen had to film life and death situations on a daily basis whilst under pressure. Her camera work was excellent - she was able to film dynamic situations, maintain access and develop storylines in the moment. She has a great eye for a shot and knows exactly what's needed for the edit. As Series Producer I would have no hesitation in recommending her for filming roles.

Long before it was fashionable, Karen picked a camera as a shooting PD; and she's excellent. So much so, I've used her to train aspiring, shooting APs. Karen's ability to get the most from the story, and especially her contributors, was helped enormously by her ability to connect, and be on her own if needed. She's a great director. An excellent shooter and has since become invaluable as an SP.
