Last year I conceived and produced 4 documentaries on the reality of being an entrepreneur serving the 'bottom billion' for the BBC World Service. This demonstrated my strong story telling skills and involved recording in Kenya and India: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3csvp5I also filmed and edited a short film to accompany the series:https://www.facebook.com/163571453661989/posts/1753376168014835
https://twitter.com/bbcworldservice/status/922523149559885824I have produced several radio current affairs documentaries with amongst others: Lyse Doucet, Martha Kearney, Shaun Ley, Rory Cellan-Jones, Roger Bolton and Edward Lucas (The Economist) covering issues such as cyber security to internal battles within the Labour Party. With experience in daily broadcast journalism I have excellent editorial and script writing skills.TestimonialsAndrew Neil: “Kate Dixon is diligent, intelligent, professional, focused on whatever task she is allocated. The films I made with her were a model of efficiency, flair and accuracy. It was also a joy to work with her.”Jeremy Vine: "Kate Dixon is one of the best BBC producers I have worked with. Very bright, hard-working and totally dedicated, she was always able to take an abstract idea and make a hard-hitting political film from it: one of the hardest things to do in broadcast journalism, because so much of politics happens without pictures! I was always extremely impressed with her work and diligence and she was a joy to go on a shoot with..”Jo Coburn: "Kate is an experienced and talented filmmaker, who is hardworking and easy to work with. She combined her political knowledge and insight with high level production skills to find imaginative treatments for news stories on the BBC's Daily and Sunday Politics".Rob Burley (editor, BBC Live Political Programmes): “Kate is a talented and versatile journalist with many years’ experience in film-making, radio and TV documentary and news and current affairs. She has considerable experience in political journalism and a track record in coming up with original programme ideas and making them work as pieces of television and radio. She has an excellent contacts-book and handles contributors and colleagues impressively. She is a gifted film-maker and is committed to producing work of the highest standard.”Martha Kearney BBC Radio 4 ‘Today’ presenter: “I have very much enjoyed working with Kate Dixon in particular on our documentary New Wave at Westminster when she identified the new generation of newsworthy politicians – at very short notice. Our most recent documentary on the NHS reflected Kate’s ability to uncover fascinating documents and produce a highly engaging programme.”Roger Bolton BBC Radio 4 ‘Feedback’ presenter: "Kate Dixon is an immensely experienced, intelligent, astute and hard working producer with an encyclopaedic knowledge of politics and current affairs, and a wicked sense of humour. I greatly enjoyed working with her.”Angela Saini, science presenter: “Kate is a highly professional, experienced and meticulous producer, who I loved working with. She gives a hundred per cent to every project. I would have no hesitation in recommending her for any role within broadcasting.”
