I have 20 years’ experience in the TV industry and a huge amount of hands-on experience in coordinating end-to-end project workflows driving project success from concept to completion.
My expertise includes meticulous project planning, budget management and risk assessing, ensuring that every project phase aligns with both creative vision and operational objectives. I have organised and overseen complex and difficult shoots on every continent and safely sent teams into highly challenging environments from Antarctica to Afghanistan. I take every opportunity I can to leave the office and get out into the field and/or set where possible and have been fortunate enough to see Puffins on Skomer Island, the frozen lakes of Montana and the inside of the Tardis at Bad Wolf studios in Cardiff. I once had to cut a recce short in Kenya due to a gunfight and was also (slightly) kidnapped in China.
I pride myself on adaptability and having an intensely collaborative approach bringing a proactive mindset to problem-solving and a commitment to excellence. I am highly skilled at balancing creative and operational requirements, having successfully delivered content for clients such as Apple TV+, Sky TV, BBC, Disney and most recently Amazon Prime. I worked at Television Centre in London for many years before it ceased operations and actually met my wife while working on Strictly Come Dancing. (I was NOT actually one of the background dancers as she sometimes implies).
I have extensive experience delivering projects across various genres including news, factual entertainment, feature docs and many high-end natural history TV series. Foremost among the latter were x2, 12-part landmark natural history series for Apple TV+ (Earth at Night in Color and Earthsounds) both with budgets of £12 million plus. Most recently I managed a feature documentary for the multi-award winning Passion Pictures for Amazon Prime featuring prominent talent including former US presidential candidates, Hollywood A-listers and focusing on a (very) high-profile member of the royal household.
Having come from a very working-class background in the Rhondda Valleys I have always championed greater inclusivity and diversity within the TV and media industry. In the Autumn of 2024 I co-organised and ran a 10-part production management masterclass in conjunction with Screenskills and Screen Alliance Wales fostering new talent within the TV industry with a particular emphasis on encouraging applicants from underprivileged and under represented backgrounds particularly those from deprived socio-economic backgrounds.
