I've worked with Ryan on two month long 'adventure' shoots. Firstly, following the C19th Yukon gold rush trail over snow covered mountains and across freezing lakes and rivers before ending up digging for gold on a remote campsite. Secondly, filming a group of scientists monitoring the activity of the world's largest lava lake inside the volcano, Nyiragongo, on the eastern border of the DRC - an FCO 'red' zone. Both these shoots were physically demanding with a range of climbing, ski-ing & outdoor skills needed - Ryan didn't disappoint.
On both occasions, Ryan proved himself an invaluable member of the team. He applies himself to the task in hand with verve and is happy with the camera on the shoulder or legs. He knows his kit inside out and is especially good at natural history filming but can also turn his hand to observational doc style. Coupled with that, he's a dab hand with a drone and isn't precious about getting his hands dirty with go pros! He is also happy to self direct and is charming with presenters.
I'd have him along on the next shoot in a flash.
