I'm an RTS winning and two times BAFTA and Emmy nominated producer/director and former newspaper journalist making impactful, immersive documentaries with a sense of purpose, journalistic rigor and emotional resonance that shine a light on complex issues by telling compelling human stories.

I have experience making premium authored single films including a cinema released feature length doc and prime time series across a range of styles - observational, retrospective, presenter-led, investigative and structured - in the UK and abroad, including hostile environments. 

I have directed and filmed sensitive character led films with vulnerable contributors in challenging circumstances, difficult access driven films in remote locations and conflict zones and complex investigations requiring secret filming. I enjoy both operating as a self-shooter and working as part of a larger crew with multiple camera set ups. I'm a strong, visually creative self-shooter with my own kit (Sony FX9) and experience using a range of cameras, lights, gimbals and prime lenses.

My films have won several notable awards including the RTS Journalism Award in 2023 for best documentary, the British Journalism Award 2023 for best foreign affairs and two Foreign Press Association (FPA) Awards in 2018 and 2017. I have also had programmes nominated for multiple awards including: BAFTA, Broadcast Award, Emmy Award, Grierson Award, Edinburgh TV Award, Amnesty Media Award, Rose d'Or Award, British Journalism Award, One World Media Award, Prix Europa Award.

I have a proven record of negotiating and maintaining difficult access to institutions and individuals and developing trusting relationships with contributors. As a former journalist I am used to generating story ideas and I have used this experience in honing my storytelling skills for documentary as well giving me a thorough understanding of complex legal and compliance issues.

I was shortlisted for the Edinburgh TV Festival Ones to Watch and I was selected for the prestigious Channel 4 Producer/Director scheme. In 2013 I was one of eight from hundreds of applicants to win a place on the Channel 4 Dispatches Investigative Journalism Programme after transitioning from print. I am also a mentor for one of the One World Media production fund grantees https://www.oneworldmedia.org.uk/production-fund/#mentors I have an iVisa and have filmed throughout the world including: The US, Colombia, Sierra Leone, Iraq, Libya, Mongolia, Madagascar, Uganda, Italy, Spain, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Greece, France, Syria, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador.
