Ross is a terrific director - highly visual, committed and an excellent story-teller. We've worked together on a number of films, from Orkney to Egypt, and I'd work with him again in a heart beat.
He's great - hire him!
Ross worked as a shooting PD on a true crime series for Netflix and C&I at Sky Vision Productions. His camerawork was exceptional, and he secured some key contributors in difficult circumstances. In the edit he crafted elegant and thought-provoking films with sound editorial judgement. I'd happily work with him again and wish him luck for the future.
Ross is an extremely hard working and talented PD, at home in the research, shooting and editing phases of a production.
Our subject and schedule meant that we had to film independent segments and stories which would only be joined together into films in the final edit. This required a lot of team work and co-ordination between all the PDs, a challenge that Ross's conscientious approach excelled in.
In the shooting he consistently got excellent coverage and shots of his subjects and worked to get the most out of the filming team.
In the edit he used curiosity and well judged humour to bring make the very most of his stories.
Throughout he was a great colleague to work with and I hope to do so again.
Ross is an excellent PD who's worked on three series of "How Do They Do It?" now, shooting stories in North America, Europe and Taiwan, covering everything from how the FBI solves crimes using CODIS to how they make the Taiwanese delicacy, stinky tofu. He's hard working, prepares thoroughly, shoots well, gets great interviews and soundbites from contributors, is a strong writer and very good and quick in the edit. And he was even prepared to eat stinky tofu on camera.
Ross is an extremely experienced shooting PD and delivered several good programmes in our series Massive Moves 2. These are not easy films to pull off due to the remote nature of some of the locations, haphazard ways the contributors work and that the major part of filming happens all at once with only a minimal film crew. Ross was a great shooter and producer, organised the team well, and confident. He understood the story-telling and factual/engineering parts of the shows brining them to the fore in the fast turnaround edits. I'd highly recommend him.
