I've been making TV and film since I was a teenager, and I started working professionally after I left university in 1996. In the last few years I've been having a wonderful time writing and directing films about science and history.

For a large part of my career I've been an editor. I've edited hundreds of programmes; long form documentary, feature films, music videos, news packages, short films, corporate films, government films, TV commercials, public health films, sports programmes, computer games programmes, live launches for F1 teams, live multi-camera shows etc.

I've also made motion graphics for hundreds of projects. Using graphics to explain complicated ideas and heighten story-telling is a real passion of mine.

Since around 2010 I've spent much more time concentrating on being a great director. In 2019 I made three episodes of a series for Curiosity Stream called Secrets of the Solar System. Two years later, in 2021, I produced three more films for the follow-up series called Secrets of the Universe. Over the last year from 2022 till 2023, I've been very busy working on the fabulous new series of Connections with James Burke.

Early in 2023 I was the Series Director for a new short-form version of Connections. We cast science communicator Alie Ward as the presenter for this series in the place of James Burke. I'm extremely proud of what we have achieved.

More recently I have been helping to make a new series for which the final title is undecided - a series looking at visionary scientists and engineers finding innovative solutions to the climate crisis. Read Less
