Working with 160 'Year 8' pupils (12/13 year-olds) on a cross-curricular project to produce their very own soap opera, 'Mercian Square'.
Devised, planned and carried out this project in a Tamworth school across a 4 month period. We created a 45-minute soap opera featuring characters and storylines devised by the pupils - many issue-based, but also some light-hearted. The soap was filmed across a 3-day schedule within the school grounds but cleverly disguised by the pupils' set designs.
Combining Drama, English, Media, Music and ICT the project offered pupils opportunities to prove their abilities in working as teams to produce truly original work which was then broadcast on the school's internal web system. |
