I have made 45 programmes as a television writer-producer-director, 30 of which are hour-long drama documentaries, many on historical subjects. Having worked with talent ranging from Tilda Swinton to Noam Chomsky and Andrew Marr, my work includes arts programmes such as a 10-part series of photo-films for Channel 4, as well as writing and presenting BBC 2’s flagship Arts programme “Art That Shook the World: The Battleship Potemkin’.I wrote and directed the award-winning feature film EISENSTEIN, (2000) starring Simon McBurney, shot in Russia, Mexico and Ukraine.During the 1990's I ran 'Praxis', Canada's leading scriptwriting centre, worked with British Screen and was one of the European Union's official 'experts' for the MEDIA programme.In 1991-92 I worked closely with Sally Potter on her double Academy award nominated feature film ORLANDO.My passion is telling stories with invention, humour and wonder.
