Joe Laflin is highly recommended! I’ve worked with across three series now. First finding contributors for two history inserts on very different topics. Second on Countryfile where we spent a week in the Channel Islands and because of changes to the weather, came up with new stories to replace ones we couldn’t film. These were wildlife and science stories for a Special. He is adaptable, thorough in his research and fact checking and always polite and friendly to contributors. Third and most recent programme is as my AP on an Antiques Roadshow special. This has been a factual one hour with sensitive subjects and tricky access and he has been instrumental in finding some fantastic interviewees to tell their story about a very specific period of history. He understands the importance to find the best story, not just the first one he hears, and works well in a team as well as autonomously. He also directed some of the interviews which have been included in the final cut. I’d be delighted to work with Joe on any project and he’d be an asset to any production.
Joe is one of the best. Thorough research, reliable, diligent, great ideas. Just what you want on your team. Highly recommended.
I have worked with Joe for a number of years. Each shoot he has arranged has run smoothly, regardless of directorial changes on the day. He is a lovely presence on location and has a great manner with contributors. He also has a keen sense of editorial and would be capable in a directorial role.
I worked with Joe Laflin for three series of Flog It. I was the Series Producer and Joe was one of the researchers who worked along side a number of Directors. The feedback I received from the Directors Joe worked with was always positive and throughout this period Joe developed many of the skills required to become a senior researcher, able to pass on his knowledge to junior members of the team. I always think the measure of a good team player is someone who is happy to share their knowledge and skills and Joe was always happy to do this. By the final series Joe was an invaluable member of the team, a hard worker, able to cope under pressure with the ability to come up with ideas of his own for a number of commissioned films. In the final series we worked on he wrote, directed and edited a film of his own. I would employe Joe as a researcher/AP in a heartbeat. He is a joy to work with.
