I’m a documentary filmmaker, story editor and development consultant based in the Netherlands, with over 20 years of experience in film and television. I develop original documentary ideas and formats, and work with filmmakers to shape their projects from early research through to the edit.My films have won awards at IDFA, the Berlinale and the Netherlands Film Festival. As senior non-fiction editor at VPRO Youth, I developed programmes for young audiences and worked closely with independent producers on editorial direction, budgets and production. I developed the concept for Hoofdzaken, a documentary series in which children talk about their lives while having their hair cut, and served as its editorial lead and co-producer.Alongside my own filmmaking, I teach documentary directing at the Netherlands Film Academy, advise on funding proposals for NPO Fonds, and provide story editing and pitch coaching for documentary projects.I’m interested in freelance development, story editing and creative consultancy, including international collaborations and remote work.
