I have been making my own natural history films from self-funded expeditions to Sumatra, Madagascar and various locations in the UK while searching for an opportunity to work in this industry. The topics of my films include the difference between semi-wild and wild Sumatran Orangutans and how ecotourism relates to this. I also made films based on my search for the Critically Endangered Sumatran Elephant, the Sumatran/Sunda Slow Loris and Sumatra's incredible plants, herpetofauna and invertebrates. In addition, I made another series on Madagascar's unique and highly threatened wildlife.
Locally in the UK, I have been filming Adders for several years and created a long-form documentary on Britain's only venomous snake, which is structured in a coherent story from early spring emergence to the dramatic breeding season and then into summer and autumn. This film showcases action-packed scenes I filmed of male Adders wreslting one another for dominance, as well as intimate courtship displays peformed by pairs of males and females.
All of this can be viewed on my YouTube channel here:

Through self-teaching my camera operation, video editing and narration skills, I have to attracted a large enough audience for my YouTube channel to become monetised.
Furthermore, as you will see in the 'awards' section of my profile, I have recently been Highly Commended in the Video category of the British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA) for entering a short films on Adder breeding season. Subsequently, I entered a still image of male Adders in combat to the BWPA and it was selected for publication in the BWPA Collection 14 book.
More of my still images and short film clips can be viewed on my Instagram page:

I am comfortable working in remote and challenging places due to the multiple long-term expeditions I have worked on as a herpetologist for the NGO Operation Wallacea. This involved conducting scientific surveys for reptiles and amphibians in the tropical rainforests of Sulawesi and Mexico, as well as Meditarranean karst landscapes in Croatia. Prior to this, I volunteered as ansurvey assistant for Operation Wallacea in the remote jungles of Guyana. Due to encountering many venomous snakes, scorpions etc., I am experienced in handling potentially dangerous animals. The data collecting from these expeditions has produced academic plublications which I have authored or co-authored (see CV for more detail).
