Whislt my screen time may disagree, my interest in film and television goes beyond casual viewing. For several years, I have written and shared reviews with a close circle of friends, developing a disciplined habit of close analysis and examining structure, performance, and craft rather than simply reacting to a film. My initial bond at 12 with these friends was our shared love of the same TV shows and movies. This ongoing practice reflects a genuine and sustained engagement with the industry.
This analytical approach carries into my academic work. I recently completed an essay for my module 'Development in Global Cinema' on Bong Joon-ho's Parasite, examining how food and drink are used throughout the film to distinguish social class. The essay, which received a first-class mark of 75%, argued that these details function as a universal visual language: an audience does not need fluency in Korean, or even full cultural context, to grasp the class dynamics at play the moment food appears on screen. Close reading of storytelling that draws me toward the production side of the industry.
Professionally, I currently work at Sotheby's, managing high-net-worth and international clients through a fast-paced, high-stakes process that requires discretion, composure, and precision. I work in both English and Mandarin. This background has given me a strong foundation in working reliably under pressure and handling sensitive situations with professionalism, qualities I am now looking to bring to a media environment. I am a strong team player and no role is too small for me.
