My portfolio demonstrates my ability to source, research, commission, edit and deliver stories in a way that engages large audiences across a range of platforms. I have an ability to connect and empathise with people, can take a complicated issue and simplify it, or really get to the heart of an issue with compassion for the interviewee. I have worked with esteemed brands including the BBC and This Morning, Metro and Future. My work as a freelance journalist to date has seen me rise to some big editorial and broadcast challenges including working on Metro’s ongoing This Is Not Right campaign which seeks to address the relentless epidemic of violence against women. I’ve worked with charities such as Killed Women, Refuge and the NSPCC to support families who have lost loved ones to domestic abuse in telling their story. I’ve also worked on a national anti-vaping campaign, have supported a mum who lost her daughter to suicide for a pertinent feature for Mental Health Awareness Week, spoken with Love Island stars about the dangers of botched surgery, shared stories of familial estrangement, and children who have secured life saving transplants. I’ve managed everything from topical daily debates between contributors to breaking news, to booking fun guests like The Grinch onto daytime TV.Outside of journalism, in 2024 I organised and coordinated a fundraiser for AMMF in memory of my cousin Sam, who died at age 37 from Cholangiocarcinoma. As part of that work, I also wrote and secured regional and national media coverage across print, digital, radio and TV including BBC South East, Metro, Kent Messenger. The event itself raised over £20,000.
