I’ve worked with Caroline for well over a decade and would, without hesitation, say she’s absolutely the best head of production and production manager I’ve ever come across.
She’s managed incredibly complex productions, filming around the world, often in remote locations, and on a wide variety of shoots that have ranged from actuality to drama reconstruction, from studio comedy to music concerts and large-scale events that have had a lasting positive impact on contributors’ lives.
She’s worked with institutions from hospitals and police forces to national galleries, managed sensitive access and care of vulnerable contributors, and helped us to collaborate with artists, actors, musicians and other high-profile talent.
Caroline has an extraordinary grasp for every detail of production, and how, as they evolve, production management needs to adapt and change. She’s versatile and always able to see several steps ahead.
With budgets, Caroline is thorough, realistic and always thinking of ways to ensure money is spent efficiently and with maximum on-screen impact.
Caroline is a superb manager – conscientiousness and highly emotionally intelligent, able to keep people at the centre of her approach, without ever compromising the creative vision. She has a fantastic grasp of health and safety, duty of care and welfare across production and everyone – from crew to presenters, post producers to agents, contributors to commissioners – enjoys working with her.
I’ll give one example which I think sums up Caroline’s brilliance. From a standing start during the first three-month lockdown in 2020, Caroline managed and delivered eleven programmes that were filmed under the strictest Covid protocols, including a six-part weekly show (Grayson’s Art Club), a series involving access to the UK’s most prestigious museums, and a fixed-rig documentary filmed in a family home. In the toughest of circumstances, when most of the industry was paralysed, she worked tirelessly to bring these shows to air.
The programmes she’s managed have won BAFTAs, Griersons and RTS awards, and they simply wouldn’t have happened without her.
On a personal level, Caroline is a joy to work with. She’s calm, supportive, diligent, and always totally committed. I’ll greatly miss working with her and could not recommend her more highly.
