About Me
My name is Jeri Read More
My name is Jeri Lee Linnell. As a highly motivated individual with a passion for presenting, podcasting, music, radio, Tv and sport. I am confident I have the skills and dedication necessary to excel in my field as it is my dream, and I will give my best contributions to your production.
I have just finished my training at CAPA College where I learnt a huge amount, my confidence has improved massively, especially in front and behind the camera. I am constantly working with new people allowing me to take new inspirations and learn how to deal with different personalities in the workplace. Therefore, I am now eager to apply my skills and passion in a real-world setting. Being a broadcast journalist has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and this is my opportunity to show the world my personality. During my time at CAPA College I took part in the social media management team. Doing this, I was able to understand how everything works behind the screen, as well as developing skills like, time and project management, branding, communication, leadership and trend awareness
A few months ago, I started my own podcast called Getting Juicy with Jeri, this has been one of my greatest achievements, and brings me so much happiness. This podcast is all about creating interesting content and bringing humour to my audience. I also do many interviews with interesting people such and actors like Fatima Bojang who played Jade in Netflix Adolescence to Nick Mathew a world champion Squash player and many more. Having my own podcast has equipped me with a unique set of skills directly transferable to your course. I handle everything from content creation and editing to marketing and audience engagement, demonstrating my ability to create compelling audio content and build a loyal listener base. This experience means I can bring a ready-made understanding of the digital audio landscape to your team, helping the BBC connect with new audiences. Furthermore, as an 18-year-old I believe that hiring the younger generation will be crucial as I will bring fresh perspectives, innovate ideas and an innate understanding of current trends and digital platforms. This also means I will ensure your content resonates with younger audiences, maintaining its relevance and solidifying its position as a leading voice in entertainment and culture.
Working as a runner for Football Focus has given me first-hand experience of how a fast-paced media environment operates. I’ve learned how to stay calm under pressure, think on my feet, and support production teams to tight deadlines (all skills that are essential in journalism). Being a part of such a well-respected sports programme has also strengthened my understanding of how stories are shaped behind the scenes, from research and preparation to final broadcast, this experience has fuelled my passion for storytelling and teamwork and has also helped me gain a love for all things sport. I am eager to apply the same professionalism and enthusiasm to your production.
Most importantly, I want to express to you my love and passion for journalism. I live and breathe all things news, media, stories, interviews, culture, music, TV and sport. For me journalism isn’t just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle that informs my understanding on current trends and audience tastes. I’m especially drawn to this apprenticeship because it offers hands-on newsroom experience and mentorship from personals whose work I admire. I’m eager to learn and craft from the ground up, from sourcing stories and interviewing to writing with clarity and impact. Watching documentaries on the BBC like “Thailand; The Dark Side of Paradise” to watching The Match of The Day is a part of my daily routine, I love all the presenters especially Dan Walker and Roman Kemp. I thoroughly enjoy The One show; I love all the amazing guests and presenters. My biggest inspiration is GK Barry, she is one of the reasons why I started my podcast and gave me the drive I have to proceed in a presenting career.
