Nick series produced a complex and high-end show for me, that explored an insiders perspective on some of the world’s most intriguing heists. Nick managed interviews with former police and ex-criminals, drama-doc and graphics elements. He brought exciting and sophisticated storytelling and made sure this was the case across all the episodes; he has great people management skills with in front of camera and with staff behind the scenes; he took ownership of a very difficult drama doc element that was filmed in Poland; he has a lovely ear for music and how it can tell a story; on top of all of that he was a pleasure to work with. I hope to do so again.
Nick is a very experienced director with fresh ideas about how to approach storytelling. His style of filming is unique and cinematic. He's a team player, who always invites other people's thoughts into his own thinking. He is incredibly tenacious and hard working.
Nick came on board to film B-Stories for our American True Crime series, and he turned them into single-episode A-Stories. This is a testament to his storytelling abilities and constant desire to tell the best story possible.
Nick produced and directed a feature length documentary on the Salisbury poisonings for Discovery+. This was a particularly challenging project due to the sensitivities surrounding the broader story, but also the people who had been traumatized by the poisonings and told their stories on camera. Nick was a consummate professional who showed great skill in dealing with the contributors and careful judgement in his storytelling. His journalistic and directorial talents meant we ended up with a highly crafted film that we were proud to show. Nick was also a great team player and a pleasure to work with.
Nick is an extraordinarily creative and visionary story teller who brought insight, originality and inspiration to every episode of Inside the Heist. An experienced film maker, he is tenacious in his pursuit of excellence, and pays meticulous attention to all stages of production. Sarah-Jane Cohen, Executive producer, Inside the Heist.
Nick's just directed a film for us, a Channel 4 documentary with the dancer Akram Khan. He did a brilliant job. He is extremely conscientious and determined in securing what was very tricky access with quite a closed and suspicious community (in this case the Bangladeshi curry house owners of Brick Lane), and also very resolute in manoeuvring the presenter into situations which were often outside his comfort zone. He worked well as part of the team, and he's a grown up who takes notes and responds constructively. Nick shoots very well, so the film he has made for us looks very beautiful. I'd deftly recommend him as a very talented and collaborative P/D.
Nick has recently filmed, produced and directed an ambitious documentary for us that involved marrying access-driven actuality, intimate biographical material, and dance performance. He pulled it off with great sophistication, and the resulting film is beautiful, moving and poetic. The fact that he managed to combine all of these elements in an original and coherent way speaks to his versatility and wide skill-set, and I wouldn't hesitate to work with Nick again.
Nick’s a very intelligent and talented documentary maker. He’s excellent at working with complex and sensitive issues and stories and strives to make engaging and thoughtful tv. I’d have no hesitation in recommending him.
Nick is a brilliant film-maker - dedicated, focussed and single-minded. Nothing gets in the way of making the film. As a self-shooting director, his camerawork is excellent. And as a director he has demonstrated a consistent ability to get under the skin of his subjects.
Nick worked for me on Panorama. He is a very talented and creative film maker who takes his work incredibly seriously. He is really good with people and difficult access. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
With Nick, you are never going to get vanilla. The film will always yield something more interesting. His strengths are forging strong bonds with sometimes challenging contributors and getting the real story. His talent lies in pushing them whilst also maintaining a very strong relationship.
His shooting has a beautiful documentary feel about it. Whilst he has a doccy heart , he also has a great sense of irreverent fun about him too.
He is passionate, strong minded (but up for debate) and fun to work with.
Nick is a talented and experienced film maker. He is very strong on story, bringing additional editorial layers to films to give them more depth. He works well with contributors and has an ability to get them to open up and trust him. He is a strong self shooter and is very experienced in the edit.
Nick has made several films for me, and they have always been thoughtful, touching and beautifully shot. I think he is an extremely talented film-maker.
