Rawan Alfuraih is an anthropologist, folklorist, oral historian, and former producer, currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Anthropology at the University of Oxford. She conducted six years of fieldwork in the Najd region of central Saudi Arabia, examining the impact of rural-to-urban migration in the early twentieth century on bodily folkloric performances. Her earlier ethnographies explored bodily performances of genres such as folktales, poetry, and dance within the ecological contexts of mud villages before urbanisation.

Rawan is engaged in open science and data reproducibility, focusing on ethical and sustainable archiving practices in the social sciences. Drawing on her background in information systems, she is also investigating digital infrastructure solutions to enhance archiving methodologies in the field.

She has worked as an advisor for eight years on cultural projects, heritage, and oral history. Read Less
