Enthusiastic and geeky development and digital producer with a fair bit of technical know-how, an excellent knowledge of the comedy landscape, professional scripting experience (Radio 4 and BBC Comedy), and lots of credits in factual entertainment formats. Basically if it's funny and/or it's nerdy: I'm in. I'm a dab hand with Premiere/Photoshop and I love bringing funny ideas to life - especially on tight budgets.
I also work freelance as a comedy producer/director for comedians on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqX2c0ny3YE
In 2017-2018 I've been working on development of scripted comedy and some comedy ents projects for Fudge Park - putting together tasters, script read-throughs, showcases and treatments for various UK broadcasters, while developing relationships with a huge range of comedy talent and their agents. I produced a staged version of The Entrepreneuress starring Sian Gibson at the BBC Comedy Showcase in 2017, and a taster of a remake of a US comedy format involving a comedy character played by Phil Wang who tries to use his business background and life experiences to help struggling companies and people, frequently offering them outlandish strategies, parodying the methods of marketing and management consultants for Channel 4. I specialise in finding new writing talent by engaging with the live scene and writers/comedians. In 2016 I worked on short form comedy content: assistant producing for BBC Three's new Top Tens format (including Jessie Cave, Natasia Demetriou, Ellie White, Joseph Morpurgo and Michael Spicer) and on a mockumentary called #HoodDocumentary (written and performed by Kayode Ewumi). I also produced a Wellcome Trust funded podcast panel show involving comedians and scientists (featuring John Luke Roberts, Sophie Scott, Steve Cross and Cerys Bradley among others): I developed this format, wrote the chairman's script, and then edited the final 6 x 30 min episodes. Throughout 2015 I was based at BBC Worldwide with their Youtube and digital team writing, producing and editing comedy skits, funny factual formats and irreverent but rigorous science content (featuring stand ups and YouTube talent like Nish Kumar, James Acaster, Josie Long, Robin Ince, Dan Schrieber, Tom Scott and Bec Hill). This was a full 360 job: development, writing, casting, producing, shooting and editing, and also supplying additional content for social media (video, quizzes, articles).
In 2012 and 2013 I designed tricks and stunts for 2 series of a magic meets science production for Discovery- with over 100m viewers worldwide. I helped to develop and produce two series of Dara O Briain: School of Hard Sums (featuring Alex Horne, Richard Herring, Susan Calman, Tim Key and many more) - working on VTs and studio shoots. In 2011 I was responsible for researching and casting British teenage contributors for Channel 4’s primetime documentary Living with the Amish, and working on location in the US. I have contributed to comedy development pitches and scripts for Objective and BBC Comedy and Radio 4, and written for BBC Comedy Online, Radio 4 and other online projects. Read Less
