Maya Gilmore is a half-English, half-Malay Screenwriter who grew up in Singapore. She studied filmmaking at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she learned every aspect of filmmaking and has worked on film sets as a runner and location assistant. She recently graduated from the National Film and Television school in 2025 with an MA in Screenwriting. On the course, she wrote multiple features, TV show pilots and was taught in-depth on story structure. She wrote short films which screened in the BFI (Short film 'Cuerpos' and Animation Short 'Criatura'). She has also written for radio, theatre and games. After leaving NFTS, she has worked as a note-taker for Writer's Rooms.
