My background is in print and I have been a regular contributor to the Washington Post, The Telegraph and The Independent, among many, many others. But I also report for NPR (US National Public Radio), have written and presented my own Audible docuseries (an environmental murder mystery in Argentina), and helped produce episodes from Ecuador and Peru for 60 Minutes Australia and Canada's The Fifth Estate, the preeminent current affairs TV programmes in their respective countries.
I cover most topics under the sun, from the deadly serious such as
political corruption, the
drugs trade,
melting high-altitude glaciers and logging on the territories of indigenous tribes, to
food and
travel. But my passion is the environment and I have deep expertise both in the
Amazon and Andes. I have near native-level Spanish (and have reported for El Pais, the Spanish newspaper), after living first four years in Mexico City and now, since 2009, in Lima, Peru. I am equally happy bivvying on a glacier 17,000ft above sea level, hacking my way through the jungle, or eating at some of Peru's (and the world's) finest restaurants.
