In December 2023, I graduated with a Merit in MA Visual Anthropology from the University of Manchester. This program provided me with advanced skills in filmmaking, photography, and sound recording, paired with an academic understanding of the cultural and anthropological contexts of visual media. Throughout this course I created a series of short films, including Haven, a documentary exploring counterculture and urban decay, and Season of Rebirth, a cinematic exploration of personal transformation.
Previously, I achieved a First-Class Honours in Sociology and Criminology at the University of Hull, focusing on the sociology of art, visual culture, and popular culture. During this time, I served as Head of Photography for the university’s student media, refining my abilities in photography, photo editing and working within publication settings. This course culminated in a dissertation examining whether advertising can be considered an art form, for which received the third-highest grade in my cohort.
Independently, I have developed a wide range of skills within production of visual media of various types. My original photo and video artworks take inspiration from abstract and surreal aesthetics, utilising numerous editing techniques to create pieces with a distinct visual identity which have been shared and promoted through effective use of social media channels. Similarly, I have developed skills within music video production, having directed, shot and edited multiple projects entirely independently, building upon said visual style and developing my abilities within production, planning and communication. Furthermore, in planning and editing a promotional video and creating social media specific graphics within a volunteering role, my capacities for creating a diverse range of visual assets have been further strengthened.
In addition to such creative pursuits, my work in customer-facing roles have sharpened my organizational and interpersonal skills. Within my current position as a Barista at The Good Mews, I make an effort to communicate kindly and effectively with co-workers and customers alike, creating both efficient and friendly workplace environments. The fostering of such environments is something that I hold as a large aspect of my personal ethos and see as a prominent goal within any role I undertake.
