However, following my EPQ on the teaching of black history within schools, I knew that I wanted to be able to share people’s stories in some capacity.
I graduated with a 2:1 BA in journalism in July 2024 and over the three year I was studying, I was able to tell people’s stories and those were the pieces I am most proud of. I interviewed a mother about her life and achievements following the passing of her son to knife crime. I was also one of the first people to cover the now national movement “Toothless in England” while it was still toothless in Suffolk.
I have previously worked for Air TV where I worked as a researcher on the Channel 5 show, “Cumbria: the lakes and the coast”. I really enjoyed working on the show and it taught me a lot about the process of working and planning to film with people. In addition to this I also worked as a researcher on their development team, where I learnt lots about how to develop an idea into a show and creating a pitch that best presents it.
Outside of working, I play basketball and have done since I was 15. This is why I chose to do my final project at university looking at a women’s basketball team. I spent a week, filming and getting to know everyone at the Sheffield Hatters, and its probable my favourite thing I have had the opportunity to film while at university. I watch the six o’clock news every night and I’m a big fan of TV and Movies. I am a big fan of documentaries and have really enjoyed some of the documentaries on Netflix recently, such as “Homicide: New York”, “Fyre: the greatest party that never happened” and “Pepsi, here’s my jet?”
I have a passion for telling people’s stories and would really like the opportunity to develop and grow into doing this as a career.
