Hello. I’m Jamie, a Director of Photography.

I’ve been in the Film and TV industry for over 20 years. I work across all genres, especially Dramatised Documentaries and Specialist Factual shows with a lean towards science and engineering subjects. Providing shows with Cinematic Documentary Drama Recon is an absolute passion of mine, in particular Crime, Military History and Period Drama.

I'd love you to take a peek at my site www.jamiehobbis.com when you have a moment. There, you’ll find reels, kit lists, rates and a great gallery of production stills.

I have a van bristling with kit too. I come with an Arri Amira, grip, lighting and other suppporting equipment; enough to fully facilitate most medium sized documentaries and drama recon shoots. I offer incredibly attractive rates on the equipment, particularly for a series deal, as I'm independent of the rental houses. The image quality of the Arri Amira significantly improves the look of any production and is super efficient in post production.

Summer 2016, I shot my first feature film moving on to shoot my second in February 2017. With another two on the cards for 2019, I'm really enjoying the move into the Feature Film sector. It's this background in Film Drama that I believe has enabled me to raise the bar, visually, in any Drama Documentary. I am happy operating under pressure and to punishing schedules. I get a real thrill out of making a modest budget look a million dollars on screen.

I'm adamant I could bring a little something to your next show and I would really love to hear from you. Please do give me a call or drop me a line, I'd love to say hello.

A very talented DoP! Jamie goes above and beyond the call of duty, whatever the size of the production. The gadgets and gizmos are second to none, and his incredible work ethic makes those long shoots bearable. He is a valuable asset to any production and we cannot wait to work with him again.

Thanks Jamie!

I've worked with Jamie on many shoots. Whether its full on drama recon set-ups or challenging international locations for docs, he's always remained highly creative, diligent, calm and focused. His ability to create great atmospheric images, even when time and budgets are stacked against you, is second to none. Jamie's recently DoP'd a presenter-led Channel 4 aviation series for me...always a pleasure to work with and I can thoroughly recommend hiring his talents!!

I worked alongside Jamie this summer on the feature film 'Name of the Game'. I was the Sound Recordist. Jamie is one of the best DOP's I have worked with. He is easy going, has an eye for detail and is extremely passionate in what he does. I would highly recommend Jamie, he has the kit and skills for any job that is thrown at him.

Paul Caton, Sound Recordist

Jamie is a joy to work with. An exceptional DOP, creative, calm under pressure and willing to stand in the rain for hours on end to get the shot right! ...Just don't get mud on his van...

Steve Maher - Creative Director Impossible Factual
