I have a 2.1 BA (Hons) Degree in Film, Media and Journalism from the University of Stirling and have just completed a 10-week marketing course at the Open University. During my time at university, I gained a vast amount of experience in video production and digital journalism, working with my university newspaper and the BBC.

Previously, I worked with the BBC as a contributor to the BBC Social. In this role, I would produce videos for the BBC social page. I would be required to pitch, write, record, and partially edit the videos. My first video was reposted to the BBC’s main Instagram page with 5.4 million followers. It was also reposed to BBC Scotland’s YouTube, where it received 7.1k views. Another of my videos was uploaded to BBC iPlayer along with a compilation of videos titled ‘How We’re Wired’.

Along with my videos that made it onto the site. I regularly pitched new concepts and ideas to the BBC Social team. This allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of how to create high-performing content for large social platforms.

During my time at university, I was also the Deputy Editor of my universities award winning newspaper, Brig. This role required me to oversee the running of the entire publication including social media accounts, print editions and our website which attracted over 250,000 visitors a year. During my year as Deputy Editor, we won best student publication in Scotland at the regional Student Publication Awards (SPA). We were also nominated for 10 national SPA awards, including Best Student Publication in the UK.

Taking a senior role at Brig helped me vastly develop my team management and presenting skills, as well as my SEO knowledge and writing skills. During my time I wrote for a vast variety of sections such as breaking news, film and TV and features. I also gained experience producing audio and video content for our various social media accounts and our podcast, which I partially produced.
