I have worked with Steve Hay recently in Manchester, having also worked with his some years ago. He is a creative, organised editor willing to go the extra distance to make a project come together and shine. The fact that he also shoots well and has a great understanding of the production process is a bonus. He is also entertaining to work along side and happy to work solo or as part of a team.
Hire him. Hire him. Hire him. Calm and collected under pressure. Always has an creative answer or alternative for the cut. When you have to spend so much time with someone you can recite their coffee order, lunch order and children's names quicker than your own, it's good to spend that time with someone clever, funny and hard working. A true gent and a brilliant editor!
Steve was a delight to work with. He is meticulous in his work, makes the best of the rushes to create a beautifully crafted final product, is great with music and can work to incredibly tight deadlines. All the while being a funny and kind colleague. would love to work with Steve again!!
I had the pleasure of working with Steve for three months on a true crime series for ITN Productions. Steve has many years of experience - and it shows. Working on a very tight ship with tight deadlines, Steve was the safest pair of hands.
He can be relied upon to turn around the impossible on time, every time: he's super-organised and a real self starter, creating effortlessly beautiful cuts, perfectly paced. He's full of ideas, and editing with him is a genuine collaboration, but equally, hand him a script and a brief - and he'll come up with the goods.
Steve is so easy to get on with, and completely unflappable. He really is one of the good guys, and I'd be very happy to work with him again.
I’ve worked alongside Steve on a number of projects and his work ethic and dedication to his craft has always greatly impressed me. He quickly gets a firm grasp on his rushes and can effortlessly create compelling narratives. His unfailing good humour means that sharing any edit suite with him an absolute joy.
Steve is a fast but calm editor who like to crack on. Very good at forcing decisions from the precious or wavering director and getting the job done. With years of experience in and outside the edit suite he is to be trusted to work alone as his own edit producer if needs be. Always look forward to working with Steve.
