I commit myself to pursue a career to make the best TV shows, which can captivate an entire nation and the world, mirror the true diversity of the audiences. I hope to work with the most creative and accomplished talent, producing award-winning, fun, funny and thought-provoking shows in unscripted TV.
I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. When I was a little girl, my writing was often selected as the best in school. I was frequently asked to attend writing competitions and won many. I got a Bachelor’s degree from National Chengchi University. My major was radio and television. I also got a Master’s degree focusing on political communication at the same university.
My strong writing and research skills resulted in my career as a journalist and host at TV station.
My first position was a political journalist at PoHsin Multimedia, Inc. which was founded by the leading political party, Kuomintang. It closed for business after I had worked a year. I transferred to working at Voice of Han Broadcasting, a government station awarded many gold medals in national competitions. I was an anchor and host of news program. One year later, I was recruited to Unique TV beginning as a political reporter, but two weeks later, Unique TV opened up a live morning broadcast of the stock market which began my career as a financial journalist and anchor. My job was introducing the stock market and interviewing analysts to discuss the market fundamentals, macro-economics, fiscal and monetary policy on air.
After two years, in 2000, I was headhunted by Formosa Television Enterprise run by the Democratic Progressive Party. I was responsible for live stock market broadcasts every day, interviewing analysts to discuss stock fluctuations and predict future developments. After about 5 years, I worked for Taiwan Television Enterprise to plan the financial news program. It was a success because it was the first TV program in Taiwan to cover wealth and investment management in detail. My reports were often used as key background information for legislative inquiries. The programs I produced then often ranked among the top rated of financial programs at that time.
In 2015, I was headhunted to join Macau Asia Satellite Television Company where I served as a producer and host of the finance program ‘Currency War’ targeted at an audience in the coastal cities of mainland China. After one year, I was invited by the Macau Government Tourism Office to produce a series of programs promoting tourism in Macau. ‘Traveling with the Anchor’ which had high ratings and a positive influence on visitors.
My natural curiosity resulted in my decision to have further research. I came to London to do a PhD from Sep 2019 to June 2024. My thesis title is Huang Tianpeng (1909-1982) – A Life in Journalism. This thesis examines the Chinese literati journalism through the life of Huang Tianpeng.
