I'm a multi-award winning freelance DOP / lighting cameraman and director with 30 years experience filming tv and film documentaries. My work stradles documentary, natural history, fact. entertainment, lighting, non-broadcast content and drama recon.  I'm Bafta and Oscar nominated, a Grierson winner and got 25+ international awards for my films.

Whilst much of my work is as a DOP, I also take on self-shooting PD roles from time to time and drop into productions in a more editorial capacity. I am happy to work as part of a large team or as a smaller one-man band. I self-shoot and location-direct to a very high standard.

I have filmed all over the world and worked on major series such as Frozen Planet, Blue Planet, The Murder Detectives, Catching Killers, Banged Up Abroad, Uncharted, Ross Kemp on Gangs; documentary series such as the Hunt for MH370;  travel series such as 'Girl in the Picture' Alex Polizzis Italy & Greece as well as and single theatrical one-offs like Being AP, Ronaldo, the Last Animals and Rise of the Tiger.

I excel in portraying human narratives in a cinematic style.  Adept in working on prime lenses I bring high-end cinematic quality to any scenario no matter how difficult, dangerous or sensitive the subject matter. I  am driven by good storytelling and the power of imagery to tell those stories.

I have considerable experience working in hostile environments and war zones covering a huge breadth of subjects from drug cartels in Mexico to battlefield hospitals in Afghanistan.

I am passionate about lighting and can work with large, complex studio lighting rigs but also low key ‘run-and-gun style’ set ups in the field.

I'm currently looking from mid-May through Summer '25 to fill a work gap that has expectedly come up.  Read Less
